My long-time pal and musical cohort Will finagled a business trip to Seattle abutting the weekend of May 20th, so we hung out in the basement for (basically) an entire weekend recording. Two masterpieces were born:
- SPECTRUM's more-than-a-decade-in-the-making "Can't Help Myself". What can be said about the earth-shaking sounds of SPECTRUM? "Big Rock for the New Millennium"!
- "Preterist Praise" by snarky British worship band The Ill-Defined Shepherds. Think Dylan meets Adam Sandler meets Shawn Mullins and you'll be nowhere close to knowing what to expect.
It was really, really good to get my creative juices flowing again for a change. It feels like it's been months since I've done anything creative, and I'm not planning on falling back into that rut (although I'm going to have to be a lot more deliberate about making time carve-outs to actually do creative stuff if I'm going to make that happen).
